Hi, I’m Cherry, an international student here in Canada, a former Youth Tourism Ambassador, and someone who has always believed that a little kindness can go a long way.
Back in the Philippines, I’ve worked on community projects, most of the time with my own means, and sometimes with the help of friends, focusing on children who couldn’t afford even the basics for school. I remember meeting young kids who told me, “We want to go to school, but we’d rather eat than buy paper or a pencil.” That reality struck deep.
These children, full of dreams, are forced to grow up too soon, working at such a young age because of poverty. And while food may fill their stomachs, it is education that fills their future. My heart has always been close to them because I understand what it feels like to have the desire to learn but be held back by life's circumstances.
Even now, while studying in Canada and facing my own struggles as a student, I continue to support a few of these kids, especially those starting their primary education. I provide what I can: notebooks, pencils, bags, small things that make a big difference.
Initially, I used what I could save from my scholarship funds. But one of my professors encouraged me to open this effort to others, because together, we can help more. With your support, we can reach more children and show them that the world hasn’t forgotten them.
And imagine, one Canadian dollar is approximately equal to around 40 Philippine pesos.
With that, you can already provide:
a good meal,
6 pencils,
3-4 notebooks,
or even a simple drawing book or crayons.
That’s how far a dollar can go.
No contribution is too small. A pencil, a notebook, or even a kind word, everything counts.
Let’s not just fund a school supply.
Let’s fund a future.
