Fund a bore hole for the John Mason School Welsh Farm
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of the funding of the construction of a bore hole for the John Mason School Welsh Farm.
I am a teacher at John Mason secondary school in Abingdon. Each year, we take Y8 students to a farmhouse in Wales that has been owned by the school since 1969. At the farm, we take pupils hiking in the beautiful Welsh countryside, support them in developing important life skills such as teamwork, building relationships with peers, cooking for eachother and carrying out everyday chores to maintain the upkeep of the farmhouse while they stay.
The farm acts as an incredibly important experience for our young people, in particular for vulnerable children who the school funds to take part to ensure that they are able to develop the same important life skills as their peers.
However, in recent years, it has become apparent that the farm is in desperate need of construction works to maintain a water supply, which is currently failing. Without the digging of a new bore hole (estimated to cost between £14,000 and £15,000) we will be unable as a school community to continue taking pupils to the farm. Generations of families in the Abingdon and South Oxfordshire area have been benefitting from this experience for decades, and it must be maintained!
In late July (weather depending) my partner, father and I will be hiking a marathon (42km) in Inverness, Scotland, in order to raise money to fund this building project.
Please donate as generously as you can.
