fund a based pc for me to play games on

Hi, my name is Jack or Jaymie if you're nasty, I've played online fps games for about 3 years now on my trusty dusty laptop. I would like to say I've gotten pretty good with my current setup however have dreams of going pro at some point. Currently studying Astrophysics at the University of Dundee so I don't exactly have a grand or two to dump into computer hardware unfortunately
