My name is Alexandra and I am raising money to purchase a defibrillator to be placed within Wisbech.
Statistically speaking, you have a 95% chance of dying before you reach a hospital if you suffer from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. That number changes to a 30% chance of death with the correct use of a defibrillator.
Personally, this is a cause that is very dear to my heart as we have a family member that suffers from seizures each week. 9 times out of 10 he will require CPR until ambulance services are able to get to us.
The defibrillator I am looking to obtain is
'ZOLL AED 3 Fully Automatic Defibrillator'
A brief product description is as follows.
- Fully automatic defibrillator (AED) for treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
- Can be used upright or flat for best visibility
- Universal pad design means pads are suitable for adults and children
This will be placed near to Levrington Road and will be available of course for everyone. The defibrillator can be used for adults and children with no need for any different pads or equipment and is suitable for people with no experience whatsoever.
Any funds that may be leftover after the fundraising has finished, will be donated to London Hearts. They are a charity which helps to fund defibrillators to be placed in public spaces.
