……………………..
My name is Aurie Morales, and I am raising money on behalf of Sue and the Rivera Family.
Let’s help the Rivera Family with medical and other expenses while they take care of their loved one.
Sue and I met 15 years ago through a mutual friend and got along quickly. Over time, we became best friends to the point we call each other family.
Although Sue had a great relationship with her mom, her grandmother raised her and helped shape the strong woman she is today. I guess that is why we clicked because we are both strong women that strong women raised. Sue is so kindhearted that even when she was not speaking to you - she would help you in your time of need. She would help you with anything, whether you were family or not. No questions asked.
Sue is one of three girls, the mother of her furry son Toby (aka pookiness), a godmother to her sister Louise's second son, a Berkeley College Graduate with a B.A. in Business Administration /Marketing, and a great sister. She was a great daughter to her late grandma (may she rest in peace), a daughter to her Mom and, as you will see, a great friend.
Sue and I often say that true friends love you for who you are! She is adventurous, outgoing, ambitious, likes to try new things, and is very giving and caring. She always pushed me out of my comfort zone. We taught each other a lot as our friendship grew throughout the years. She was one of my biggest supporters when I lost my sister and mom. When I needed to vent (and visa-versa), all we needed to do was call each other. She always listened and gave excellent advice. I always felt much better afterward.
In November of 2021, Sue went to her doctor to check on a pain she kept feeling on her left side. After some tests, the doctor called Sue back to the office to reveal the devastating news that she had Cancer. During that week, I had just lost my mother, and although Sue was hurting, protecting me from her diagnosis seemed logical to her at the time. After a week or so, she eventually told me. I was shattered, and despite it all, we both tried our best to be there for each other.
On September 5th, 2022, her family decided that she couldn’t live in New York anymore and that her best option was to move to Florida. She had hoped to start a new treatment, but on October 3rd, 2022, the doctors told her that there was nothing left that they could do and that she only had 3 to 4 months to live.
Sue’s job is paying for the insurance so she can get care at home. However, all other bills and expenses have become too overwhelming for the family to handle. Trying to keep her comfortable within these last months has been difficult for her family to provide her with the best care. Sue is hopeful and has joy, even though she knows she has little time left.
Let’s get together and raise money for Sue and the Rivera Family. All donations are greatly appreciated. Also, please share with as many people as you can.
