Help Me Get to DC for the Archer Fellowship!
Hello friends and family,
As many of you may know, a few months ago I announced my acceptance into The University of Texas System Archer Graduate Fellowship Program in Washington D.C.
The UT Systems Bill Archer Fellowship was established by The University of Texas System in conjunction with Former U.S. Representative Bill Archer as a way to bring highly motivated and accomplished students from Texas to Washington, D.C. to participate in varied internships and take part in classes focusing on policy, history, and advocacy. Archer students work with organizations such as the United Nations Information Centre, the US Department of State, many offices within the White House and on the Hill, with federal agencies, and with non-profit organizations.
Though, this is a great opportunity for graduate students, members of each Archer cohort are responsible for obtaining the remaining funds for their Archer experience. In addition, I will still need to sustain my rent and bills here in San Antonio because I will return to San Antonio in August. Will you please support me by giving a financial gift today?
Here is a snapshot of my Summer 2019 expense breakdown:

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi
My mission is to help those who are under-served, isolated, marginalized, and discounted. Currently, my research is looking at the link between diabetes management and food pantries with Latinxs in San Antonio, TX.
My goal is to look at food policy in food pantries to allow healthy food access to individuals living in food deserts diagnosed with diabetes. Healthy food should be a human right for all.
The Archer Fellowship will help me achieve this mission and reach my goal by allowing me to meet with national and world leaders of our time and bringing awareness to issues facing our communities.
My social work education will bring a different perspective to the table; looking at different sides of the problem with compassion while bringing thoughtful strategies to policy analyses and implementation.
Why give to me?
Because I have carefully and purposely paved my path to now reach this next step and I need your help to do it. Please donate to this cause today!
Some work I have done:
1. AmeriCorps VISTA at Haven for Hope - helped decrease homelessness in San Antonio by helping people who are chronically homeless, reaching out to organizations to build partnerships with H4H, and educating the community on homelessness.
2. Rape Crisis Center - helped individuals through one of the most trial times in their lives by comforting them, giving them hope for better days, offering counseling services, and helping through the first steps to obtain justice.
3. Team Left Hand for Multiple Scoliosis (MS) - annually raising funds and recruiting people to advance research and financially help support individuals and families living with MS.
4. Participatory Budget Project Senior Committee Chair in District 8 - finding gaps in the community for Senior Citizens and civically engaging constituents.
5. Chick-time Hope - mentored and was asked to give a motivational speech to mandated "troubled" female youth who committed truancy, stealing, etc. I gave hope for a better future and help get them on the right track so they can one day be successful.
6. Morningside Ministries Long-term Care - this was more than just an internship, this helped me understand those who live in a skilled nursing facility, helped me understand how medicaid and medicare effects the older population in good and not so good ways. I was able to help motivate those who did not want to live another day and I was able to see lifetime of despair in someone's eyes and then change that despair into a lifetime of worth.
I care and am passionate about each population I work with, I give my all because every single person is worth my all, a good life, and a life that is full of hope for tomorrow. This is why you should financially give to me because I believe in those who others do not, I believe in their potential to live a better life, and I believe that when I give my all in Washington D.C. I will give a unique perspective to policy makers because of the life I live, the life people have shown me, and the training I have received to look at life from many angles.
Thank you for your time. I hope you find it in yourself to invest in my future and Help ME get to D.C. by donating NOW so I can help positively change the worlds of many. Like anything else it takes financial support from people who care like YOU.
PLEASE DONATE TODAY...RIGHT NOW!
Thank you from me and my family to yours. Email me at [email redacted] if you have any questions.
