Since Purdue Grand Prix’s first race on May 17, 1958, Grand Prix has been a lasting tradition and a cornerstone of “students helping students”. Today, Purdue Grand Prix consists of 75 registered teams competing for 33 spots for the race. The karts that qualify participate in a 160-lap (50-mile) race. The Grand Prix Foundation has been, is, and will be an epicenter for the community at Purdue University and fundraising to provide scholarships for students.
We look forward to yet another great year in the Purdue Grand Prix, but the cost of racing is no small amount and is always on the rise. With each team normally having one kart, our team holds pride in registering two karts into Purdue Grand Prix every year. This is why we are contacting you; we wish to grow our success each year. With your support, our team will be able to grow in our performance by quality engine rebuilds and maintenance, proper upkeep of our tires throughout practices and the day of the race, and other miscellaneous items that go into the cost of running two karts for this year’s Grand Prix.
Not only is the Grand Prix about competing, but it is also about learning lifelong skills and having fun. Students who participate learn what it is like to function as a team, along with the technical skills of working on a kart. As our team grows, our sense of brotherhood follows. Team members are able to see the time and work they put into the multiple practices and off-track hours come into fruition on the day of the race. This is an experience that cannot be acquired anywhere else and offers invaluable preparation for internships, job opportunities, and an experience they will never forget.
The Grand Prix racing team of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity would like to ask for a generous donation to improve our teams’ success in this year’s Grand Prix, and Grand Prix to come.
No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe.
