Hi, my name is Holly Guidinger, and I’m Taysen’s incredibly proud aunt. I’m starting this GoFundMe because I’ve watched Taysen face the unthinkable this year with more strength, humor, and heart than I thought possible. Taysen is not just my nephew—he’s a bright light, pure-hearted, good-to-the-bone, meant-for-greatness kind of guy. And he’s such an important part of our family.
Just days before starting his dream job fighting wildfires while stationed in Island Park, Taysen received devastating news: he had testicular cancer, and it had already spread.
In the five months since, Tay has shown up with unmatched grit and grace. He’s undergone three intense rounds of chemotherapy, juggled countless doctor appointments, and bounced between Huntsman Cancer Institute and Portneuf Medical Center—all while trying to work when he could and stay focused on healing. It’s been hard, but he’s been profound, awe-inspiring, and fiercely determined to kick cancer’s ass.
Taysen was born stubborn, gifted with great hair, and a hilarious wit. Through this journey, he’s managed to keep laughing, deliver big bear hugs, and grow wise beyond his years. He spent his 20th birthday in the ER—no cake, no candles, but with a new perspective on what matters most: family, friends, and memories made. I get teary-eyed just writing this because I’m truly so proud of him.
Now comes the most challenging chapter yet: a very invasive, time-intensive surgery to remove multiple tumors near his spine, including one the size of a grapefruit. This surgery will require at least five days in aftercare, followed by weeks—if not months—of recovery with full-time support at home.
His parents, April (my sis) and Al, have been absolute rocks through this entire journey—showing up BIG. They’ve stayed strong, loved relentlessly, and worried much. But the financial toll is real: medical bills are piling up, PTO is running out, and there are ongoing travel and lodging expenses as the family stays close to Salt Lake City for Taysen’s care.
⸻
Your support will help cover:
• Medical expenses and aftercare
• Travel and lodging near Huntsman
• Lost wages for loved ones providing full-time care
⸻
Anything raised beyond immediate needs will go directly to Taysen as he rebuilds his life and future after recovery.
Thank you for loving Tay with us. Thank you for helping lift the load. And thank you for standing beside a young man who refuses to let cancer define him.
