The Long Road to a Lifelong Dream: Frank & Kat’s Great American Adventure
For as long as we can remember, we’ve dreamed of seeing the country through the windshield of an RV. We finally found our wings in a classic 1997 motorhome. It’s older, it needs a little love, and we’re making repairs as we go—but it’s ours, and it represents a freedom we weren’t sure we’d ever get to experience.
Why Now?
The last few years have tested us in ways we never imagined. Our journey isn't just about sightseeing; it's about reclaiming our lives after a series of staggering medical battles.
• Frank’s Fight: In 2022, Frank was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, he has endured six surgeries and grueling stays in the ICU. He now lives with half a pancreas and no spleen, leaving him with a severely compromised immune system. Most recently, he had to say a painful goodbye to his mother, who passed away just days after Christmas.
• Kat’s Resilience: Katrina has faced her own mountain of health challenges, including a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy, and a second paraganglioma tumor (currently stabilized by radiation). She also manages Sarcoidosis, a debilitating condition that affects her daily life. Through it all, she has prioritized her health, recently celebrating an incredible 150-pound weight loss.
The Mission
We’ve spent enough time in hospital rooms; now, we want to see the mountains, the deserts, and the small-town hidden gems. We are traveling in our '97 rig, fixing it up mile by mile, and living out the dream we promised ourselves during our darkest days.
How You Can Help
Traveling with chronic illnesses and an older RV comes with unique costs—from mechanical repairs and fuel to specialized health needs. We are seeking support to keep our wheels turning.
Sponsorships & Partnerships
We aren't just looking for a hand-out; we want to bring you along for the ride!
• For Businesses: We are happy to sponsor products or locations! If you have a product that makes life on the road easier or a destination you want us to feature, let's talk.
• For Friends & Family: Your donations help us cover the "bumps in the road"—both mechanical and medical.
Life is short, and we’ve learned the hard way that "someday" isn't guaranteed. Thank you for helping us make our "someday" happen today.
We’ll see you on the road! We’d love to see another 25 years of marriage. We are so grateful to our 3 grown boys and our 3 grandchildren.
With love and gratitude,
Frank & Kat H.
