Fueling a firefighter: Help Michael get to the academy! My name is Michael. I am reaching out to all of you; my friends, family, and community, to ask for your support with pursuing my dream: to become a firefighter. My path to the academy was not an easy one. Growing up was a challenge. I saw firsthand the negative influences of gangs and the difficulties of a rough childhood. For a long time, I felt lost and uncertain about my future.

Something inside of me changed. I realized that I had a choice to make: to continue down a path that led to nowhere, or to take control and build a better future for myself. I chose the latter! I have been working tirelessly to overcome the obstacles in my life, leaving behind the negative influences that had a stronghold on my desire to thrive, and am committing to making positive change.

I have learned that I have a strong desire to serve and protect others, which has led me to my decision to join The Fire Academy. I admire the dedication and bravery of our community's firefighters and know in my heart that this is where I belong!

I have been accepted into the South Bay Fire Academy and am eager to make the most of this life-changing opportunity. This program is intense and demanding, both physically and financially. While I've been saving every dollar I can, working for The City of San Jose, the costs of tuition, gear, transportation, and living expenses are more than I can manage alone.

I am reaching out to you - my friends, family, and community. Your support, whether big or small, will help me to focus fully on my training. Every contribution brings me one step closer to becoming the firefighter I've worked so hard to become.

I'm not just chasing a career - I am answering a calling. I want to be there for others in their most vulnerable moments, to serve with courage, and to give back to the community that shaped me. With your help, I can turn this dream into a reality, fueling this firefighter's future - together!
