Fuel the Future of William & Mary Fencing!

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Nick 'Osiris' Reeder and I am the outgoing captain of the William & Mary Fencing team. The fencing team at William & Mary is unique in two ways: for many of us on the team it has become a second family. It is a community built through support, support which allows to maintain our high standard competition. That high standard is the second unique part of this team, as a former varsity program and the premier program in Virginia (9 consecutive VA Cup wins!), this team competes nationally against current varsity programs and other club teams.

In order to maintain this level of competition, we rely on alumni, friend, and family support. This is why I am asking you to donate what you can to help fund a training camp for our student-athletes at the W&M alumni coached Cardinal Fencing Academy.

Cardinal Fencing Academy runs a high performance Epee program in Sterling Virginia, competing at all levels from local opens to World Championships. Their spacious facility has room for 12 wireless strips and regularly hosts international training camps. This camp will be run by Coach Doug Tableman (W&M alumni 2013), whose former students include current members of the William and Mary freshman class, as well as national champion Spencer Rothka. Doug started fencing as a freshman at William and Mary in 2009. His team experience instilled a love for the sport that led him to compete internationally. Having taught Epee nearly as long as he fenced it, Doug transitioned to a full time coaching position after retiring from serious competition. His methodology involves self reflection and deliberate practice, and can help set the team up for a successful 2024 season.

This year was an incredibly successful year for our team, especially our Epee squad. Overall, William & Mary placed 6th in the national competition USACFCs, in no small part due to the success of our Epee program. Below is a list of this year's Epee accomplishments!

Women's Epee won USACFCs
Men's Epee placed 8 at USACFCs
Women's Epee won the varsity conference NIWFA
Men's Epee placed 7th in the varsity conference MACFA
Women's Epee won in the club conference SIFA
Men's Epee won in the club conference SIFA

Now is the time to strike while the anvil is hot and continue to accelerate our epee program!
