My name is Sarah Bennett, and those who know me know that hockey is not just my passion, it is my life. Today I am making a heartfelt, urgent plea to the wider community: We desperately need your help to get our Zimbabwe U21 Ladies team to the Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile, from the 1st–13th December 2025.
I was fortunate enough to represent Zimbabwe at the Junior World Cup in 2005 at the very same venue. I know the blood, sweat, and sacrifices it takes to reach that level. For most of our current players, this will be the single greatest opportunity of their sporting lives. For some, it is also their only chance to be noticed by universities offering life-changing scholarships.
But right now, everything hangs in the balance. Despite qualifying against all odds, despite years of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance, this team’s dream is slipping away. Without additional urgent financial support, they will be forced to withdraw.
This is not just about missing a tournament. If we cannot get these girls to Chile, their hopes will be crushed, their years of dedication wasted, and the future of Zimbabwe Hockey will suffer a devastating blow. Imagine being told that even when you give everything and earn your place on the world stage, your dream can still be destroyed by something as unfair as money.
We are running out of time. The Junior World Cup is not just another competition—it is the pinnacle of their young careers, a chance to prove Zimbabwe belongs on the world stage, and to inspire countless others back home.
We need help, and we need it now. Every single contribution, no matter how small, could be the difference between heartbreak and history. Please know that every cent raised will be fully accounted for and directed only towards getting this team to Chile. Full transparency will be maintained so that you can see the direct impact of your generosity.
Please—stand with us. Together, let’s make sure these young women don’t see their dream die before it even begins.
