Fuel Sophia's Journey to Caribbean Clash

Hi!

My name is Sophia Holmes and I'm an eighth grade student at Clayton Middle School in Clayton, New Jersey.

I have been wrestling since I was seven years old. I currently practice/train with Jordan Burroughs' All I See is Gold Wrestling Academy, American MMA and Wrestling, and the Clayton/Glassboro Youth Wrestling Program.

I have won NJ States as a youth twice, the Tri County Youth Wrestling Championships for Girls multiple times, the Tri County Youth Wrestling Championships in the Co-ed division, Spartan Nationals, and the youth USA Beach Wrestling Championships.

I hope to one day compete on the international stage or collegiately, and have hopes of placing at the NJ High School State Championships during my career at Clayton High School.

In order to accomplish my goals and reach for my dreams, I feel I have to be willing to challenge myself, enter more freestyle tournaments, and face the best competition possible.

An opportunity to compete in Puerto Rico in the fall against some of the best wrestlers in the world at my weight and age has become available to me. However, in order to attend and compete in this tournament, I hoped to fundraise to lessen the financial burden this will present to my family.

I hope to go to Puerto Rico in the fall and represent the State of New Jersey on an international stage and improve on my wrestling ability. I feel this opportunity is one that I can not pass up on, and I look forward to competing.

The event I am hoping to compete in is called the Caribbean Clash Grappling Getaway in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This will take place in October.
