Fuel Sebastian's Dream: Representing USA in Hungary

Hi, I am Sebastian Kauffman, a competitive sprint kayaker. For 4 years I have been paddling for the River Town Racers sprint kayak team in my little hometown of Petaluma, CA. At the beginning of the summer, I put my skills to the test at the US team trials in Seattle, WA, where I qualified for Team USA! On September 13, I will fly to Szeged, Hungary, to represent the USA at the Olympic Hopes Regatta (OHR). I recently competed in the National Sprint Championships at Olympic Park on Lake Lanier in Georgia. I participated in a total of 9 races and finished with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Ahead of OHR, I am traveling to Seattle, WA to continue training with my K2 partner. Our week of focused training in Petaluma this summer created camaraderie and synchronized paddling that led to our 2 silver and 1 bronze at Lake Lanier. I anticipate fierce competition in Hungary, but will do my best while representing Team USA!

My bio: I live in Petaluma, CA with my family of 6- my mom, dad, brother, sister and our ferocious 7lb dog. I’m 15 years old and entering my Sophomore year at Petaluma High School. I strive to maintain academic excellence and am in all honors classes. I believe that hard work and discipline are the keys to success. I work out before and after school - on the water, at the track, and in the gym. Throughout the summer I trained multiple times daily and hosted my K2 partner for a week of intense work together. I have been training nonstop to achieve the goals I have set for myself… and I’m hoping you can help me reach my next one!
