Fuel Rocket's Journey to His Dream College

Donation protected
Hello all!
Rocket is going to be a senior in high school this fall!!!! This picture is from his junior prom. I can't believe he is going to be a senior next year! I have been teaching high school seniors for 20 years!

So, this summer, Rocket and I are taking a 17 day college road trip to visit campuses that are a good fit for his XC and Track and Field goals. We want to see the layout of the campus, meet the coaches and see the tracks! Rocket has the times to get into all of the colleges we are visiting, and six of them are set to recruit him!
Our Itinerary:
We leave June 11th and our first stop is AZ for ASU and Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Then we head over to CO for Fort Lewis University, Adams State, UC Colorado Springs, Boulder and Northern Colorado Uni in Greeley CO. After that we head to Idaho for Pocatello, Boise and Moscow. Then over to WA for Washington State, and into OR for Portland State and about 10 more down the 5 into CALI including Cal Poly Humboldt and SF State, until we end in Santa Cruz on June 27th, which is My 55th Birthday!!!

We are bringing our bikes, so when we arrive to a campus, we can ride around and take in the convenience of the campus, the dorms, the cafeteria, the track, and the local town. Rocket will be using his bike as transportation while at college, and he should gain a strong sense if the campus is where he wants to study for his Business degree.

The Challenge
I began saving for this trip in September, knowing that this is what we have to do the summer before his senior year so he can make the best decision for his college years. (As you all know, living in South Pas and helping my kid make his dream come true is basically why I work two jobs! )

I have been able to save enough for the gas for this 3500 mile trip!
I have also been super resourceful and we will be couch surfing 13 of the 17 nights!

But, we leave in two weeks, and I haven't saved enough to buy college t-shirts or lunches and dinners out. So, I am reaching out to friends today to ask...

Would you like to buy us lunch or dinner on this trip?
Maybe pitch in to buy a college t-shirt or hoody?

In Gratitude
Every summer, Rocket and I have taken a road trip; whether it was to go river rafting in the Snake River, or visit my dad after he moved to Oklahoma.

Rocket and I have been working closely together on choosing these colleges and writing introduction letters to the coaches. We are both incredibly excited to spend this time together and explore a bit of the west.

Despite our excitement, Rocket knows that our funds are limited. He even told me, "Mom, we don't have to do this trip." When I shared this with a friend, she encouraged me to create this GoFundMe page, offering to buy us lunch and suggesting that others might also want to help.

If you know me, you know I’m not one to ask for help or admit my financial struggles, but here I am, being open and honest. Rocket and I are determined to make this trip happen, even if it means living on apples and beef jerky. However, it would mean the world to us to feel your love and support with a hot meal along our journey!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any assistance you can provide making this college campus visit road trip a reality.

I look forward to sharing with all of you what college he accepts!

In joy,
Tylene
