As the year goes on, we’re reminded of how powerful community, tradition, and togetherness can be. This season, our South Asian-Fusion A Cappella Group from the University of Michigan, Maize Mirchi, is leaning on the support of our extended community.
This year, we made history as the first South Asian A Cappella group to win first place at ICCA Quarterfinals five years in a row! This year, we have a full schedule ahead of us, competing in the ICCA semifinals in Milwaukee as well as returning to the Association of South Asian A Cappella (ASA) circuit and competing in Mehfil at USC.
For us, these events are more than competitions — they are a chance to celebrate our cultural roots, showcase South Asian musical traditions, and bring them to a national stage through the art of a cappella.
As a fully self-funded student organization, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to help us cover the costs of travel, weekends of lodging, and meals for 16 members. This is where we humbly ask for your support.
Whether you’ve heard us perform, have been moved by South Asian music, or simply love supporting passionate student artists, your contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to representing our community with pride.
Thank you so much for your love and support. Please consider donating and following our journey on all socials (@maizemirchi). We’re just getting started!
