Fuel Juliana's Goal to Become a Pilot
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Juliana, I am 18-years-old, and I am pursuing a career as a pilot. I am currently attending flight school and with 20 flight hours, I'm only one step away from earning my Private Pilot's license. I have already passed all my ground school exams, and I'm on track to solo fly very soon.
As you may already tell, flight school rates are not low cost and do not accept federal aid. One flight alone ranges anywhere from $400 to $1,000. As a young student under a single-parent household, and with my mom's (Liliana Peñaranda) help of working 3 jobs, I am doing everything possible to make ends meet by applying to many scholarships and working a job. Unfortunately, taking out a loan just didn't materialize. I have already successfully won two scholarships under my flight school and church that have summed up to $8,000 and have paid $7,000 from my own savings. Like a 4-year university, a full year's training from zero to a Commercial license costs at least $100,000. The funds would be used for the 3 licenses (and many exams/checkrides) to complete my training: Private Pilot certificate, Instrument ratings, and Commercial license.
My dream since I was 7-years-old has always been to fly commercial planes for the airlines, so I am going after this dream. Eventually, I would like to use my future career in aviation to help others through organizations such as Samaritan's Purse, Compassion International, Pilots to the Rescue, and Mission Aviation Fellowship. I need your help to take my dreams to the skies.
Whether you donate $1, $500, or anything in between, I will be eternally thankful and share my journey with you.
UPDATE: I have successfully passed me pre-solo oral and flight exam which allows me to solo an aircraft all by myself. Thank you for all your donations that have helped me reach this point, I am forever grateful!
