Our oldest son, James, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia just a week ago. He is currently inpatient in another city, about an hour and a half away from home. We have been making the commute daily to be with him, returning home at night to be with his siblings. We all have been keeping a positive outlook and while it’s all scary, new, and overwhelming, we will fight to get him in remission.
He has been responding well to chemotherapy and we expect him to transition to outpatient next week.
From there, we will have to drive to that same facility once a week for 7-9 months for active treatment. Once he enters remission, he’ll be reduced to monthly visits. This entire process can take about 2 years in total.
