Help David Smart's Autistic Artistic Comeback from injury
Donation protected
Hi, I’m David Joshua Smart — a mixed media artist with autism who transforms everything from tiny canvas panels to towering murals into expressions of raw creativity. My style spans realism, surrealism, portraits, new age, lettering, and more. If it can hold paint, I’ll make art on it.
Recently, I’ve been recovering from a serious injury and surgery that temporarily halted my ability to work. Art has always been more than a career — it’s been my survival, my healing, and my way of giving beauty back to the world. But right now, I’m facing a hard truth: I don’t have the tools I need to keep going.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
I need to restock essential materials and equipment, including:
Golden and Liquitex paints
High-quality brushes
Paint markers (Molotow, Montana, Krink, OTR)
Spray paint (Montana, Molotow, Flame, Dang)
A new easel and proper lighting
Ergonomic studio furniture and a respirator
Drawing tools, light table, power cord for my Surface, and more
Even hats and clothing I paint and sell to support myself
Your support will help me continue creating, selling, and healing through my work. As a thank-you, I’m offering original art to donors:
$50 – 8×8 custom lettering canvas panel
$100 – Original 9×12 canvas panel
$250 – 10×14 custom canvas panel
$500+ – Large custom or portrait art (16×20 and up)
Every donation helps me take one more step toward stability and creativity. If you can’t give, sharing this means the world.
Thank you for believing in my work, in the healing power of art, and in the power of community.
With gratitude,
David joshua smart
