The Zia Middle School Robotics Club in Las Cruces NM is raising funds to assist with our upcoming trip to the WPI Annual First Lego League Event (WAFFLE) at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. This is an international Lego Robotics Competition being held June 13-15 2025 where 100+ teams will compete for recognition and prizes.

The team name is Bots with Thoughts, and is comprised of a diverse group of 7th and 8th grade students that are focused on STEAM and sportsmanship. The Zia Robotics Club is on their 9th year and recently placed 5th in the State Competition and was invited to compete. This is their first opportunity to travel and compete outside of New Mexico.

The State of NM and Spaceport of America are assisting with travel, registration fees, and lodging for the competition, and funds raised through this campaign will be used for meals & entertainment, local transportation during the event, and additional lodging so that the team can spend two additional days in the area to visit the local engineering schools Harvard and MIT) plus historic sites in the Boston area.
