Fuel a Mother’s World Championship Journey

As a master’s runner and mother of six children, stepmother to three more, I’ve put off many running opportunities. I couldn’t spend much time away, I didn’t have time off work, big household expenses would come up (hello, braces!), and I simply couldn’t afford it.

Red bibs for the Boston Marathon, Fast Runner bibs for the Berlin Marathon, an almost unheard-of lottery bib for the London Marathon, and a World Championship bib for the Sydney Marathon have all slipped through my fingers.

I'm not getting younger, but I am getting faster. For now. As I approach my 45th birthday, I realize that the time really is NOW to realize my big, scary dreams.

This year I’m faced with a huge opportunity to compete in the New York City Marathon for the World Age Group Championships AND a shot at running the Sydney Marathon in its inaugural year as a world major.
