"It's never too late to start" - that's what I was told when I first started wrestling. I began my wrestling journey in my junior year, all thanks to my friend who introduced me and trained me when I first started. I started off wrestling boys, then slowly transitioned to wrestling girls. I began to see the passion and love I had for the sport, and I wanted more. I started attending another practice in Manhattan, Beat The Streets (BTS). They helped me progress and get better throughout my journey.
In my first-ever City Championship, Folkstyle, I placed 3rd. Then Freestyle came along, and I would place 3rd in every tournament. But that only helped me get better. Placing 5th in my first-ever PSAL City Championship only made me realize how much more I wanted it. I started to practice more, training all summer, going to different schools for camps, and coming back stronger. Folkstyle season came along, and my coach saw more potential in me. He gave me the trust to wrestle in the lineup for the boys, going undefeated in all dual meets. Boys Borough Championship came along, leading me to place 5th, getting my ticket to PSAL Boys City Championship, where I later went 1-2, not getting a placement. Freestyle season is now here, and I've wrestled every tournament, getting 1st. I was given the opportunity to wrestle in the Jeff Blatnick New York State Championship, where I tried Greco-Roman, getting a placement of 2nd. Leading into Freestyle, which got me the ticket to Fargo where i would be wrestling the best girls in the nation. Fargo is one of the biggest national tournament in the country for High school wrestling. And qualifying to that tournament happened all in 2 years of wrestling, and I'm going for more.
With your donations, it will help me accomplish my goals and dreams this summer at the national tournament. Donations will help cover travel, lodging, gear, and tournament fees.
