Don Pedro fills the pot holes on the road that leads to my children's school in Antigua, Guatemala. He works every day for tips from cars as they pass by. On Sunday, June 2nd, while the Fuego volcano was having the strongest eruption in 30 years, Don Pedro was filling pot holes so that our ride would not be so bumpy the following day.
Don Pedro lost his daughter, 3 grandsons and 13 other members of his family that day. He now lives in a shelter with his wife, 2 adult daughters and 4 grandchildren. They have lost everything but each other.
This is a photo he keeps in his wallet of his 16 year old grandson that he buried last week.
Don Pedro on Nightly News
Help us secure housing for Don Pedro and his remaining family. Our dream is to buy him a small plot of land and a house from From Houses To Homes . If we do not reach our $10,000 goal, we will use the funds to help him move to an affordable rental house.
Thank you!
This is the type of house we would be interested in building.

-We are a team of concerned parents from the Antigua International School who are banding together to help Don Pedro. We are comprised of the following members: Melanie Freshour, Julia Wild, Carmen Wirtz, Jamie McCollum, April Spence and Sybil Van Derhoff.
-We have formed a relationship with Pedro through his work on the road directly outside our school.
-The funds will be spent to support the relocation of Don Pedro. We are currently waiting to see what support the Guatemalan Government will provide in relocating Pedro and the thousands like him, and then will fill in the gaps with these fund for him. The money could go to purchasing land, a house, or furniture for his family depending on the need.
-As soon as the Guatemalan Government communicates the timeline/plans to Don Pedro for his relocation, we will determine the best use for the funds and use them to execute this plan.
-We will keep our donors informed.
Thank you!
