Help Liz and Russell with Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Here is their story. We respect your time and thank you for reading about their journey.

Liz was hospitalized in October 2023 and suffered a stroke in November. Through many months family and friends were at her side. Russell has been there for her throughout the entire journey and still stands by to help her. After many ups and downs, in and out of ICU, home from the hospital and then back again, Liz was finally released from hospital to home care February 2024. With the help of home physical therapy and home health nurses and aides, Liz has been making steady strides. From being bedridden in a hospital bed in her living room in April, now in August she is walking with the aid of a cane, up from walking with a walker and able to get in and out of a car. Great progress!

Both Liz and her husband Russell are disabled. They are both on SSD. To make ends meet they have seriously cut their own budget in every area. So you can see that the medical needs listed below have usurped their ability to make ends meet. Any donation is so appreciated.

The following items have been recommended by the doctors. These three items will cost approximately $6K.
1. a bed that raises head and feet
2. an electric recliner to raise a person up
3. motorized scooter (rental or used)

As you can imagine with a medical condition, there are many over the counter costs. While the major doctor bills from the hospitalizations have been covered, there are recurring costs not covered.
1. six ambulance rides (currently on a payment plan)
2. prescription meds $400 out of pocket costs monthly
3. increased cost of Dr visits out of pocket $75 monthly
4. numerous personal hygiene items -recurring costs due to stroke $200 monthly
5. hospital bed rental (which will go away with the bed purchase) $90 monthly
6. one time cost: make bathroom ADA- bars, transfer seat, towel racks, non slip rugs, etc. Cost $250

While it has been a rough go Liz and Russell have kept their upbeat attitudes and are extremely thankful for your support. If you have any questions you can contact me or Liz. My name is Liz Miller, Liz's aunt. Liz Koch Hall was born on my birthday and is named after me!
