**Update 9/9/15
I've been asked by several people to keep the fundraising campaign going to see if funds can be raised for a used accessible van. This is obviously a much larger goal, and maybe it's something that employers or businesses can get involved with.
I am throwing it out there to the universe, and we'll see where the wind takes it....
Much love,
Jen

I've never asked for anything, and if you know me, you know this is the toughest thing for me to do. However, because I've had MS for more than twenty years, it has progressed to the point that I don't have freedom to move about my home.
For over forty years I have lived in my grandmother's house, however, because of MS the stairs have become a huge obstacle. I no longer have the freedom to leave home easily or to use the accessible shower downstairs. I truly am a prisoner in the four walls of my bedroom. Because of the layout of our stairs, I require a specific stairlift and insurance does not cover this as it is considered a home modification. "Jen, why don't you just move?" I am on the waiting list for accessible apartments, but it can take several years for one to become available. Also, here at home my family can assist me more easily than if I moved out. It's also more affordble to share the housing costs with them, than for me to have my own place. Simply put, it's the place I call home.
Please consider giving if you can, and share this with anybody else who may be able to help. I got stuck on the stairs today and I knew that was the last straw. It's not safe for me to be trapped upstairs. I have to get this stairlift and I'm hoping, well as the song says, to get by with a little help from my friends.
Love,
Jen
