Karlye Boyd is a Typical 9 year old little girl. Church functions, Cheerleading, softball, doing makeup, manicures and fighting with her 5 brothers is a Normal every day in her busy schedule. But in Friday early March her world changed. Waking up late and rushing to prepare for the bus her dad noticed Karlye was acting very unusual and out of character. She would look away, gaze off in a fearful and lost state and then come back to her self but only for a few then it was the same routine over and over. Her dad called 911 and the EMT personnel came quickly and said she was stable for transport. After a day long trip to the emergency department at egleston with many episodes unexplained in what was going on they were sent home to make a neurologist appointment which had a 2-3 month waiting list. Long story short -- these episodes were seizures. They were seeing 30+ a day. Every 20minutes. After calling in favors to friends in a great local medical practice they were sent back to Egleston for admittance. Seizures come in a variety pack and they didn't want to face this reality but it faced them. Doctor after doctor said different things but a few MRIs later and then a petscan found that she indeed had it worse than we thought. She has a mass on her Brain. This mass is what's called cortical dysplaysia. It's an area in the frontal lobe and come to find out has been there since birth but just revealed itself. Good news is is that it's not cancer and not growing. Bad news is is that it's got to come out. This 9 year old princess smiles, pushes forward, conquers fear and trust the Lord that it's gonna be okay. Surgery is soon and we pray for the best. Again faith in God and what Jesus has done so far is their only peace and their trusted promise. Karlye is out of school for the rest of the year. Out of soft ball but not out of the fight. With brain surgery to come she isn't scared. Gods word tells us " Be Still and know that I am God"! He has not brought them this far to leave them where they are. Her mother is out of work till April and with docotr appointments left to keep surgery is not far down the road. Prayers is what they seek from all who are willing. Encouragement goes a long way. Showing this precious girl love matters beyond anything. They are grateful for each of you, every little bit helps!
