Union staff fight every day for fairness for others. Now we are fighting for fairness ourselves.
Pennsylvania’s Federation of Teachers Staff Union Local #4 (FTSU) members are raising funds to defend our contractual rights and ensure we have the legal support needed to respond to a series of recent workplace actions affecting field staff. These efforts require resources, and we are asking for support to help us pursue fair outcomes and accountability. If you’re able, please consider contributing or sharing to help sustain this work.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what we’re seeing, in our view, from our employer, AFT Pennsylvania:
- Unpaid suspensions that FTSU believes may be inconsistent with our labor agreement
- Termination of the Organizer role following protected activity
- Termination of the FTSU President after a resignation had already been accepted
- Reports of wages and benefits that may be owed under the contract but have not yet been received
- Repeated medical update requests during approved leave, with concerns about how requirements are applied
This is about more than individual cases. It’s about the principles we all stand for as Union workers.
FTSU is reviewing these matters and pursuing all appropriate avenues under the contract and applicable law.
