Smiley Riley's fight against cancer

Donation protected
Like a ray of sunshine, two year old Riley Guy's smile brightens the darkest of days.  A week ago, her smile started fading and the darkness did come...

On the morning of August 1st,  her Nana noticed rapid breathing that did not settle with rest. After several calls to her pediatrician, her parents took her to Sarasota Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Fluid around her lungs prevented doctors from having a clear view into what the problem could be. By days end, she was transferred by ambulance to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg as a critical patient.

Riley's caregivers at All Children's were quick to drain over a liter of fluid from her lungs to get a better picture of the situation.  Now the mass on her left lung was all too clear.

On August 7th, doctors surgically removed a mango-sized malignant tumor from Riley that was encompassing the space of half of her lung, along with part of one of her lymph nodes.  Since then, her family has been overwhelmed with cancer statistics, survival rates, treatment plans and life altering drastic changes in the upcoming months.

As you can imagine, this will be a lengthy and costly process.

As with most families today, Riley comes from a 2-income family with both parents working full-time. It is saddening that families going through this have to worry about work and finances but this is reality.

The bottom line is this... Riley needs this treatment. Riley also needs prayers.   But more than anything, Riley needs her mommy.

Give her all three by saying a prayer and donating some money to this family so they can be stressed about one less thing.  By giving, you are rallying around this family and helping build them up BEFORE the Big-C (cancer) tries to tear them down.

Reese, Riley's 4 year old sister, brought a picture she had colored to the hospital for Riley.  When Riley was feeling too sick to even look at it, Reese said, "Doesn't she even like it, even a little bit?"  Riley will surely love the picture when she is feeling better but the rest of the family feels like Reese does about this situation - None of us like it, not even a little bit.

Riley’s favorite toy is her sister’s ‘Princess Elena’ scepter. Please help us make the magic in this scepter come true with your thoughts and prayers and grant this baby a speedy recovery with her mommy and daddy by her side.
