I'm Tommy Christman and I am raising funds for my brother, Michael, who had a horrific accident that broke his neck leaving him paralyzed from head to toe. He is diagnosed with Asia B, the second-worst level of spinal cord damage.

Currently, Michael is in Rusk NYU Langone on 17th St in Manhattan—a great rehabilitation hospital. Doctors are working fearlessly for a miracle to revive the use of his arms and legs.

Mike needs someone with him at all times. His children, Nicole, Michaela, and Michael Jr., have been traveling to the city to assist their father. A simple movement, such as washing his face, needs to be done with extreme caution. Performing basic tasks, such as eating, bathing, or using the bathroom are impossible to do by himself. The tube Michael can puff into to call for help often shifts slightly, making it impossible for him to use.

There is a very long road ahead for him and his children. Mike is still grieving the shocking loss of his beautiful wife, Gerri. Mike has always been a hard-working family man and is a fighter. Yet, I often wipe tears from his eyes, crying because he doesn’t want his children to see him like this.

Your funds will go toward on-going medical care, extensive physical/psychological therapy, and a power wheelchair. Michael will also desperately need equipment to move him from a bed, aid in eating, allow control of lights, thermostats, and other items to assist with his daily tasks.

Michael is a very proud man. We are going against his wishes by asking for help; but, we cannot do it alone. The medical bills are going to be astronomical. Even more scary are the unknown expenses, such as transportation, handicap renovation and, perhaps, moving into a skilled nursing home.

First, we need prayers and positive thoughts. We need to keep his spirits up; so, visits are welcome. We need any donation, large or small.
