My name is Scott Sherwood. Cheryl Sherwood has been my step-mom since 1989. Last week, on February 3rd, 2016, she was brutally and viciously attacked as she was walking to her car from Macy's Dept store at Solano Town Center Mall in Fairfield, Ca. The attack caused massive brain injuries and she passed away on Friday. Cheryl's only immediate family is her mom, Alberta, who is 90, and her sister, Pamela, who lives in Texas. My dad, Lee Sherwood, Cheryl's husband for almost 30 years, is overwhelmed with all the details of planning the memorial service, handling the funeral services process and paying the bills that are due on Cheryl's house until her assets are settled. All money raised will go directly to paying for burial/cremation services, memorial service expenses, and settling her affairs. Many people have reached out from our circle of friends and family as well as the community expressing their desire to help in some way. This is set up as one avenue to do that. We as the Sherwood family and Cheryl's mom and sister extend our deepest thanks and gratitude for the prayers and support that we have received thus far. As of today, we have set the memorial service for Cheryl for Saturday February 20th at 10:00AM in the morning at the Rancho Solano Golf Course clubhouse banquet room.
Another way that you can give in memory to Cheryl is to give blood at www.redcross.org and click "Make a Tribute Gift" and then follow the instructions. Cheryl's final act on this earth was donating her organs. She had been a bone marrow/stem cell donor starting over 10 years ago and now she has chosen to continue life for someone else by giving of her organs. Please consider making this selfless decision to become an organ donor as well.
Cheryl also loved animals, especially cats. She rescued dozens of cats and spent thousands of dollars over the years getting them spayed or neutered and all of the shots and feeding them. Maybe this would be another way to honor her if you so choose by supporting animal rescue shelters and getting kitties spayed or neutered. We also will be looking for good homes for the kitties at Cheryl's house, that need them now since she is gone. You can contact us if you are interested and we can give you more details.
Thank you again.
