Support Kathy's Battle Against Ovarian Cancer

Hello,

My name is Marshall Kelly. I am creating this to help raise money to support my mom, Kathy. On my mother's 60th birthday last year, she was diagnosed with stage 4B ovarian cancer. This came out of left field for us and our entire family. At the time, Kathy had just moved back to Michigan to be emotional support to her four children who had just lost their father less than a year prior.

She spent the months before diagnosis trying to build her life back up here in Michigan but had struggled to find any means of employment. She currently only receives a small amount of spousal social security monthly, and though her terminal cancer is in remission now, the impact the treatment has had on her life makes job seeking incredibly nerve-racking. We have no idea when it could take a sudden move for the worse. She has used up her pension to help her get through this last year because the social security is hardly enough to cover her rent and bills.

My mother has had a life of traveling, mostly to visit family in California and Idaho. Her adventurous spirit keeps her positive, not so stuck in her head about the harsh reality she has had to face this last year. Though she still has a smile through it all, and strength I cannot even put into adequate words, cancer is vicious and she cannot be certain of the upcoming months being kind to her.

My hope in creating this fundraiser is to help Kathy have her basic needs met so she can continue focusing on her recovery and fighting this disease. To help us pay for copays for medications, supplements, and travel to and from appointments in Ann Arbor.

I also hope to be able to raise enough to hopefully send her to her favorite places once again, Redondo Beach, Sun Valley, and wherever we can get with her while she's in better health.
