UPDATE: In January 2024, I was informed that I am a candidate for Revision (2nd) Surgery to correct what they originally hoped was scar tissue but has now been determined to be further impingement in my hip. This is DEVASTATING news, as it has already been a year since the first surgery. I am in varying levels of pain EVERY DAY and soon will no longer have adequate pain medication available. Due to all of this, I am unable to work outside the home at all. That disability disclosure they include on job applications? You know the one, about being able to sit/stand/walk/lift 50 lbs.? I can't do any of those things. Unfortunately, Remote jobs have dwindled amidst corporate real estate losses. That leads me to TODAY: I have an appointment with Pain Management to help with applying for Social Security Disability benefits. This process takes, MINIMUM, five (5) months to receive an approval. They review your entire medical history looking for holes in your story. It could even take longer. Finding this out at the top of the new year, the only silver lining I could find was, ironically, Tax Season. As soon as I received my W-2 form, I filed my federal taxes. State taxes were accepted a couple weeks later. The amount I was owed would be just enough to pay TWO MONTHS RENT, at which point I'd hoped to have something nearby and part-time to tide me over until my Disability was approved. $2400, give ot take.
Well, today, February 12th, 2024. I was informed that my Federal Tax Refund was withheld to cover an outstanding balance I do not recall from during the COVID "lockdown". To be fair, it was only a notice for the federal amount but the state refund is too small alone to make an impact. I am absolutely drained, financially. My savings has been depleted since Fall 2023. The odd jobs I've done to date to keep me afloat are over with the festive season. I am ALL out if options. PLEASE help as much as you can, if you can. The situation is CRITICAL. Thank you.
Hi, my name is Leta and I'm raising money to pay for the remainder of my portion of a recent surgery. A few years ago, I was hit and dragged by a taxi on my way home from work. As a result, I sustained extensive soft tissue damage that went misdiagnosed for almost 7 years.
Initially I was told it was Trochanteric (Hip) Bursitis triggered by Disc Herniation.
Once they opened my hip up, they found not just the issues picked up on the (numerous) MRIs but also that
- My gluteus medius was (a) torn from my hip bone and (b) had a hole in it. It's the 2nd largest muscle in the body.
- The cartilage holding my hip joint in my hip socket was torn, so my hip joint wasn't secure.
- Bone spurs in my hip joint.
- WITH physical therapy, the recovery was estimated at a year, however:
- I was laid off about 90 days after my surgery, and having only had 3 sessions total, and the first one was just exploratory.
- Because I'm still recovering (it hasn't even been a year), have been confined to searching for Remote jobs, and have had no luck yet, which brings us to today.
- My unemployment has officially run out and my severance will shortly, so anything that hits my account after 10/20/2023 will send it into overdraft.
- I'm asking for help with the remainder of this bill for my sanity, and because I still have medical procedures left undone.
