La Storia:

Mi chiamo Edoardo Donà dalle Rose e il 1° novembre 2026 sarò sulla linea di partenza della Maratona di New York. Anche se sarò io a correre i 42,195 chilometri attraverso i cinque distretti della città, ogni mio passo sarà spinto dalla forza e dallo spirito della mia adorata nonna, Silvia Monti Cornacchia D.B.

Una Donna Unica per Bellezza e Intelligenza:

Per il mondo, Silvia è un esempio di forza, tenacia e saggezza; una donna dal carattere immenso che ha rappresentato un modello per tutte le donne. Dalla bellezza incredibile e dal talento naturale come attrice, è stata una "donna speciale" che ha illuminato lo schermo negli anni '70, condividendo con il mondo il suo spirito libero. Nella vita privata, è stata una grande moglie, capace di dare un sostegno immenso e incondizionato, restando sempre al fianco dei suoi cari con grinta e dedizione. È una sorella splendida e stimata, ma per me è molto di più. È una nonna adorabile e sensibile, ma anche severa nei momenti del bisogno; una madre devota dalla generosità infinita che ci ha insegnato il valore del rispetto, l'educazione e il vero significato della famiglia. Per me è sempre stata come una seconda madre, un pilastro di sostegno e di amore infinito.

La Realtà della FTD:

Vedere un’anima così vibrante affrontare la crudeltà della Demenza Frontotemporale (FTD) è un dolore che non si può spiegare a parole. La FTD è un gruppo di disturbi causati dalla perdita progressiva di cellule nervose nei lobi frontali o temporali del cervello. A differenza delle forme più comuni di demenza, la FTD colpisce l'essenza stessa della persona: la personalità, il linguaggio e il movimento. Cosa fondamentale, al momento non esiste una cura in nessuna parte del mondo. In soli sei mesi, questa malattia ha sottratto a mia nonna le funzioni motorie, la parola, la capacità di muoversi e di mangiare. Vedere una donna che è l'emblema dell'eleganza e della vitalità perdere la propria autonomia così rapidamente è la prova della forza devastante di questo male.

Corro per trasformare l'amore per lei in azione. Tutti i fondi raccolti andranno direttamente a l’Associazione “Centro Dino Ferrari” ets che finanzia la ricerca scientifica del “Centro Dino Ferrari”. Entrambi sono stati fondati 45 anni fa dall’Ing. Enzo Ferrari in memoria del figlio Dino. Il Centro oggi è Diretto dal Professor Giacomo Comi — ed è in prima linea nella lotta contro le malattie neurodegenerative. Svolgono ricerche di livello mondiale sulla FTD presso l'Università degli Studi di Milano – Ospedale Policlinico e sono stati per noi un faro di speranza, fornendo assistenza diretta a mia nonna e alla nostra famiglia in questo percorso.

The Story:

My name is Edoardo Donà dalle Rose. On November 1, 2026, I will stand on the starting line of the New York City Marathon. While I will be the one running the 42.195 kilometers through the five boroughs, every step I take will be fueled by the strength and spirit of my beloved grandmother, Silvia Monti Cornacchia D.B.

A Woman of Unique Beauty and Intelligence:

To the world, Silvia is an icon of strength, tenacity, and wisdom, a woman of immense character who has served as a role model for all women. With her incredible beauty and natural talent as an actress, she was a "special woman" who graced the screen in the 1970s and shared her free spirit with the world. In her private life, she has been a magnificent wife, providing unwavering and immense support with grit and dedication, standing unconditionally by her loved ones' sides. She is an esteemed and wonderful sister, but to me, she is so much more. She is an adorable and sensitive grandmother, firm when necessary, and a devoted mother of infinite generosity who taught us the values of respect, manners, and the true meaning of family. She has always been like a second mother to me, a pillar of support and endless love.

The Reality of FTD:

Watching such a vibrant soul face the cruelty of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) is a heartbreak beyond words. FTD is a group of disorders caused by the progressive loss of nerve cells in the brain's frontal or temporal lobes. Unlike more common forms of dementia, FTD strikes at the very core of a person: their personality, language, and movement. Crucially, there is currently no cure anywhere in the world. In just six short months, this disease has robbed my grandmother of her motor functions, her speech, her mobility, and her ability to eat. Seeing a woman who defines elegance and vitality lose her autonomy so rapidly is a testament to the devastating power of this illness.

I am running to turn my love for her into action. All funds raised will go directly to the Associazione “Centro Dino Ferrari” ETS, which finances the scientific research of the “Centro Dino Ferrari”. Both were founded 45 years ago by Enzo Ferrari in memory of his son, Dino. Today, the Center is directed by Professor Giacomo Comi and is at the forefront of the fight against neurodegenerative diseases.
