Help Brain Stormz go to World's

Our 7-person FTC (First Tech Challenge) high school team, Brain Stormz #10298, has qualified for the FTC World Championship in Houston, TX!!  We are located in Ventura County California and Houston is quite a distance from our homes.  We are heading out there April 19th thru the 22nd, 2017.  We are very excited and thrilled to be going!  We made it through the very tough Los Angeles Regionals finishing in 4th place out of 48 teams competing.   Most recently we competed at the FTC West Super Regionals and finished with a 7th place ranking in our division allowing us to move on to Worlds.  We need your support in order to pay for our travel and shipping expenses, registration fees and parts for our robot for the World's competition.

Our team has a heart for kids and we have developed a number of outreach programs that give back to our community.   We are inspired by all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and endeavor to share it with the youth of Ventura County.  

We spread our excitement to children in our community a number of ways.  Over the last 3 years we have taught a bi-weekly Robotics class reaching dozens of youth during the school year.   We use the Lego Mindstorms kit as our technology platform.  Our students learn the basics of mechanical design and programming as well as integrating those two disciplines together.  While the kids learn a lot, we have so much fun throughout the process! We also host Engineering Club and Science Club meetings monthly.  At these meetings we perform experiments and engineering challenges as well as field trips, like touring JPL.  We invite Engineering and other STEM professionals from our community to speak to the youth attending our meetings. And...sometimes, we build bridges out of spaghetti.  :)
