On January 16, 2025, Amy E. Shine died suddenly while in the hospital in Tennessee. She went into the hospital a week ago with a sudden life-threatening illness. She responded well to treatment. In the early morning, she coded and couldn’t be brought back.

Amy was an incredible soul: fierce, passionate, loyal, generous, verbose, principled, and the best adventure partner.

Her family is spread across the country. Her mom, Christie, has already had to fly from California to Tennessee to see Amy. Her sister and nephew are in Upstate New York, her partner Richard is in Tennessee, and her dad Val is in Oregon.
