Help Save Our Home

Life is full of struggles & hardships. In these times of crisis, most people are afraid to speak up & ask for help. I am no longer afraid to do that. Want to know why? Because my family is in dire need of your help.

Many of you know our story, but for those of you who don’t…here it is:

My dad was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure in the summer of 2005. We were told that he needed to be placed on dialysis almost immediately. Obviously this came as a complete shock to our family. Around this time, in-home dialysis treatments were being introduced & my mom, being the amazing woman that she is, got trained to do my dad’s treatments at our house. About a year later, my dad lost his sight. He went through multiple surgeries to try & salvage his vision, but not one procedure he had done was successful. Eventually, his right eye had to be removed & was replaced with a prosthetic. There are no words to describe how drastically all of our lives changed due to my dad's delclining condition. Over the years, my dad’s health continued to deteriorate & my mom never left his side. Sleepless nights, countless hospital visits & complications soon became a regular thing in our household. Through all of this chaos, I was in the midst of experiencing high school & figuring out where my place was in this world. After I graduated in 2009, I put my dreams on hold to spend as much time with my dad as I could. Because truth be told, I didn’t know how much longer he would be in my life. I learned to perform his dialysis treatments & began taking a little bit of the weight off my mom’s shoulders. In June 2010, my dad had a kidney transplant at UCLA. My brother was the donor. His selfless act not only saved our dad’s life, but allowed us to heal as a family & begin a new chapter together. Our home was no longer a hospital.

As the years passed, the medical/insurance bills continued to pile up. With my dad not working due to his illness & my mom not working due to becoming his care taker…we were forced to begin using our savings/emergency money. As our money began to disappear, I stepped up & began helping my parents out financially with whatever they needed from bills, groceries or even gas. Unfortunately, I can only do so much.

Our home, which we have lived in for 20 years, is now in foreclosure. The bank was putting our house up for auction in October, but thanks to all of the donations we have recieved these past 6 months...the auction has been put on hold. We have an opportunity to save our home by adhering to a pre-modified loan modification over the next several months. We need to raise approximately $15,000 for mortgage payments & property taxes.

I am asking all of you reading this to please lift my family up in prayer. Times are tough for everyone right now but any amount of donations would be a blessing.

This is not just a house to us, but it is a home full of memories & love. Thank you all in advance for your support & generosity.
