On the evening of Tuesday, January 23rd, Chad and Sara’s 19 year old son Holden, was involved in a snowmobile accident. As a result Holden has suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a large portion of his liver. Aside from a broken shoulder, ribs and a possible spinal injury, Holden’s lungs were crushed and as a result there is concern for the lack of oxygen that was going to his brain. Holden was therefore put on an ECMO machine.
Once stabilized, he was transported by air ambulance to Toronto General Hospital where they have a specialized ECMO team. Holden is currently in a medically induced coma. Once his lungs can start working on their own he will be transported back to Sunnybrook where once stable, they will be able to assess him further to determine the extent of his spinal injury and any affects from the lack of oxygen to his brain.
Holden has a long road ahead of him and being two hours from home, the costs of accommodation, food, parking and time away from work will certainly add up.
Having known Sara, Chad and Amelia for over 10 years they would do anything to help someone in need. Now is our time to show them they have the support of all who know them. Every bit helps.
For those wanting to provide immediate support you may drop off funds to the CIBC branch in Parry Sound.
On behalf of the Cooper Family - thank you in advance for the support. Please keep Holden in your prayers.
