Hello,

My name is Paloma and I moved to the Netherlands for work.

For health reasons, I travelled with my dog Xué (certified as an emotional support animal) and my cat Tomás.

Unfortunately, I lost my job a year ago. Since then, I have done everything I can to keep a roof over our heads: I worked temporary jobs, learned Dutch, and worked tirelessly applying for new sponsored positions. But my work visa has now expired, and I wasn’t able to find a new employer in time to sponsor me. Now, my family and I need to leave the Netherlands, and legally I can no longer work to earn what we need.

It seems that when things fall apart, they often do so all at once. In our final month of residence, while we were still hoping for a positive result from a job application that, sadly, didn’t work out, Xué was diagnosed with leukemia. I immediately took care of her with the resources I had — paying for diagnostic exams, oncology appointments, and treatment. While I was employed until September, I managed to cover the expenses. But now, with my visa expired, I fear I won’t be able to afford her chemotherapy treatment.

We are now preparing to leave the Netherlands, selling our belongings to raise funds, but it’s a lot to try to cover for moving costs, transportation, and medical treatment.
