I am unexpectedly finished, very suddenly. Several friends and a distant cousin have helped get me through three similar situations since December. But, again, I've received more short-term bills this month than I can handle. I can't get a loan to cover them, but I have a large tax refund coming once I can file. Final tax paperwork should arrive Mar. 15, but I should be able to file without that. Meanwhile, I have no choice but to reach out and ask for help.
Medical expenses ($14,000 out of pocket in 2019 vs. $8,000 in all past years) led to too much debt by November. Medicare’s renal failure program since November 1 has also proven useless. I’m billed for services but have gotten none from them ($0), with none to come for a year. Last week, they sent me to the Alexandria Social Security Office to make decisions on my coverage. I met with a manager at SS on Friday. She looked over the file and told me that Medicare needs to fix things (that they “really have screwed up” since November); they should be reimbursing me, and, in her words, I need to go after them. I'll likely have to get a lawyer to help, and I know where to go for that.
I have no disability coverage, though SS declared me disabled (complicated story). Medicare was supposed to help with this disability program. Instead, recent months have often been terribly trying since November. It's crippling to be in this position, but I have adjusted to taking things day to day and scaled back everything except for local events bought earlier last year. So sorry to post this, but I have few places to turn. Prayers encouraged.
If I make this goal, I should be okay. Whatever is contributed in excess of my goal will go to another $3,200+ in back medical bills.
