Dear Family and Friends!

We are four families from the Bay Area that have sponsored a family of 7 Afghan refugees.

After months of waiting the Afghan refugee family that we sponsored were finally granted Visas! We are expecting their arrival on December 25, 2021. This is officially the best Christmas gift we have ever received. Due to the high-ranking military status of the father, serving as a trusted ally to the U.S, we are cautiously choosing to keep their actual identities discrete. However, I will do my best to paint a picture that speaks to your heart.

To protect their identities, we will refer to our sponsored family as the “Rescue Family.”

They are a family of 7 - stranded in China since July when they were abandoned by the US and Afghan governments.

Mr. ‘Rescue’ - loyal and trusted ally serving the US interest in Afghanistan for the past 15+ years.

Mrs. ‘Rescue’ - mother and home-keeper.

Oldest daughter age 19 with aspiration to go to college and be a dentist one day.

Son age 17 Software Engineering and computer programming enthusiast.

Daughter age 14 wants to finish school and become a flight attendant.

Daughter age 8 Loves to paint and listen to music. Favorite instrument is the violin.

Last but not least Daughter age 4 and a half, as she insists on being referred to as. Her favorite movie is “Frozen” she too loves to paint.

We have taken the responsibility to take care of them until they have the means to provide for themselves. We assume this will take at least 6 months to a year or more. During this time, we will be providing them furnished housing, utilities, and a vehicle. Giving them a helping hand to start their new lives in the U.S.

Help that many of us needed at one time during our own refugee experience.

Many of you have already asked how you can help, how you can participate in helping this family get established. We are asking for anything you can do to assist with college tuition, household expenses including groceries, clothing, and school supplies. Cash donations or bank transfers, gift cards or donated goods (for example new household items or nearly new clothing). We basically have to furnish the apartment from scratch.

Our Goal is to collect $30,000 to share some of our expenses. I will post a monthly update of the “Rescue Family” progress, for all that participate in the GoFundMe!
