Hi my name is Brittney Repollo. I’m one of Baba’s younger sisters. Some of you knew him as Jostin. I’m starting this go fund me to help with sudden unforeseen funeral expenses. I know everyone is asking questions about what happened because everything happened so quickly. This is just a rough generalization of what happened.
It started on his birthday, January 13 he went to the ER because he had a sore throat. He got sent home with antibiotics. Couple days later he went back. His throat was so swollen and so sore it hurt to drink water. So they ran tests for Covid, strep, mono, etc. but everything came back negative. They sent him home with a concoction of medicine to numb the pain in his throat. Not figuring out what was causing his sore throat.
During all this time Baba would still go to work and provide for his family. That’s how great of a father and husband he was. Jessica, his wife would constantly tell him to go back to the doctors to find the root of problem, but Baba being stubborn and a hardworking man refused. He was the definition of a soljah. What him and Uncle Chad would alway talk about being. Always putting others needs before him and taking care of his family before himself. Baba pushed through the pain everyday and continued to show up for work and never complained. He was starting to feel better.
Then on January 20th Baba woke up with a fever that wasn’t breaking so they went to Urgent Care. They just told him to keep alternating between Tylenol and ibuprofen. If any other symptom comes up then to come back.
On January 30th Jess took Baba back to urgent care because his fever he had for a couple days now wasn’t breaking.
On Thursday February 2nd Baba broke out in hives. Jess took Baba back in and they said he was having an allergic reaction. They treated him for anaphylactic shock and told him to take Benadryl. Still not knowing what is causing any of these symptoms.
On the morning of Saturday February 4th Jess woke up and saw Baba was bleeding from his lips. She immediately woke him up and told him they were going back to the ER. She noticed he was having a hard time walking to the bathroom to get ready. Thinking he was just groggy from waking up. She started talking to him and he wasn’t making any sense. She knew something was seriously wrong. They ran a bunch of tests and found that his platelets were low and his kidneys and liver was compromised. The doctor said he needed a kidney and liver specialist because they still couldn’t determine what was causing all this.
On Sunday February 5 Baba was transferred to University of California San Diego. From there all the doctors came and they ran all kinds of tests. His kidneys and liver was failing. The doctors did all that they could with the time given. My brothers body wasn’t able to recover and ultimately it shut down.
Baba leaves behind his loving wife Jessica.
His stepson Daniel who’s 16 years old. His son SJ who’s 8 years old and Baba’s princess Kailaniena or Lolo, who’s 4 years old. Baba was the provider of the family and his paycheck would go to rent and bills. So this go fund me money will pay for funeral expenses and anything after will go to help Jessica and the kids transition through this very difficult time. All the love and support from everyone means so much to me and my family. Baba has touched so many lives and it brings joy and comfort to hear stories on how Baba has impacted other people’s lives. Baba had such a big heart, I just want to honor him by making sure his family is taken cared for.
There is another go fund me page that was created by her sister in law. Both pages will go towards funeral expenses and to help Jessica take care of this kids.
Friends and family in the Temecula area or in the mainland that would like to pay your respects to Baba. His wife Jess is putting together a celebration of life ceremony. We will let everyone know the details once all the details are sorted.
Family in Hawaii we are planning a celebration of life in Hawaii as well. Some time within the year to spread Baba’s ashes with Uncle Chads. This is something Baba wanted. We will let everyone know those details as well once it’s set.
I just want to thank everyone for loving my brother as much as I did. He will be greatly missed for sure.
