Dave's 50th birthday is coming soon! For this milestone birthday, I plan on giving him a sailing vacation. His dream is to go ocean sailing ever since he saw Waterword...in 1995. 30 years ago, Kevin Costner inspired him to go ocean sailing in a sailboat but he never has. Dave's never even been on a sailboat, and this is his year, not only to get on a sailboat, but to actually help sail it. This trip means he gets to experience actually working on a small sailboat and get certified in sailing basics. This trip is also a rare opportunity for us to do a small vacation ourselves. We love all of our five kids, but getting away for even a few hours is a challenge, especially with a child with cerebral palsy. We have family that will be able to watch the kids and we get a breather for a weekend, our first vacation alone in 10 years.
