Little Refugee Boy Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
So I’ve been sitting here all morning writing up a long elaborate heartfelt plea to prompt you, the reader, to help us raise funds to get one innocent little boy the medical attention he needs so he suffers no longer. But after reading and re-reading, I decided that if the raw story of this boy’s dilemma doesn’t tug at your heartstrings, I’m pretty sure nothing I write will.
Sure! Many innocent children from all around the world in different countries also need help, why did we choose this one? Honestly? Fate chose him for us. This boy’s story has brought people together from multiple continents in effort to plan and organize logistics in order to get him the help he needs.
This boy came into a refugee camp in Turkey with his family from Syria. It’s not clear when he arrived, but the volunteers are trying their best to comfort the family along with the other refugees. For safety reasons, the whereabouts of the boy and his family are being withheld.
He appears to be either 3 or 4 years old, and reminds me of my very own son. I would do all I can for my boy, unfortunately this family is in no condition to do anything for theirs and they need help. While leaving Syria, it appears that he was injured when he took glass shrapnel in his right eye, which has left him unable to see and causing severe pain for him for a while now.
His family has nothing but the clothes on their backs, they have no country to go to and they have no one to help them. If the boy goes any longer without getting medical attention, he risks not only losing sight permanently from his right eye, but he could lose entirely (if it’s not already too late.) He is also viable to infection, which could prove life threatening if not treated.
We have made contact with various people in Greece, Great Britain, Australia, Turkey, Germany, India and the United States looking for Pediatric Eye Surgeons to see him. We managed to find one very generous surgeon who is willing to evaluate and treat him, as she is already treating other refugees as well. Her facility is in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. Accommodations for him and his family are also being planned in Ankara so they can be close. Granted he hasn’t had the evaluation yet, but we have no time to loose in raising funds because this is truly top priority. We estimate it will cost approximately $12,000 US to have him cared for, that will include travel and accommodations.
My friends, this isn’t one of those shady TV commercials you see late at night, asking for money to help the less fortunate, meanwhile who knows where the money is truly going? This is going to help a little boy who the world has narrowly forgotten, until now that is. What would you do if you were in his mother’s shoes? Or his father’s shoes? How would you feel if you were in his place? These are questions to ask yourself.
With any luck, this will show that we as private American citizens do care about others in this world. Please, let’s stand together, especially this holiday season – and try to help this little guy get healthy again.
