Chip's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On the night of April 27th, my Uncle Chip (Edward Woodell), was involved in a severe car accident while on his way home from work. After being extracted from the car, the Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad had determined that he was unresponsive and immediately had him transported via Medevac to Morristown Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. There it was determined that he had sustained a traumatic brain injury and had to begin fighting for his life. Since entering into the ICU, he has had numerous surgeries to help reduce the swelling in his brain, as well as stopping the brain from bleeding. Plates have been placed throughout his head to help with the skull fractures and a Tracheostomy was installed to assist him with breathing. Initially he was on a ventilator to help preform any breathing motions, but has since been able to breath without it with slight assistance. Along with the brain injury, Chip has sustained serious damage to his left eye, which seems to be irreversible. There are still many unknowns to the situation at hand due to the coma. This Gofundme is being created for multiple reasons to serve Chip, his children, Jameson (23), Jeanna (21), Grayson (12), and partner Kari, while they take on this road to recovery together.
Chip is truly one of a kind. And if you know him, you know how incredible of a person he is. He’s always positive, energetic, goofy and truly a joy to be around. He’s a fisherman at heart, loves camping, taking trips to Maine with his family, and living between the Columbia Trail and the Ken Lockwood Gorge, he has become quite the outdoorsman. Chip may be the biggest Giants fan in the world and loves any opportunity he gets to throw the football around. His Friends have always been a big part of his life and he makes sure that they get together as often as possible to have Poker nights, barbecue, or just hanging out. As far as a friends can go, Chip is at the top of the list.
Most importantly, Chip is a family man. He is the the most admirable son, caring brother, and loving father. Family has always been the driving factor in Chip’s life and he stops at no end to put a smile on all of our faces. As an amazing father to his three children and partner to Kari, he is the most supportive, endearing, and compassionate role model anyone could ask for. Chip is the the shoulder to lean on, the guy to turn to when you needed most, and more importantly a fighter beyond belief. The support from family, friends, Morristown Medical Center’s Doctors and Nurses, Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad, co-workers, acquaintances, and strangers has been tremendous and we ask that you keep Chip in your prayers. Chip is as tough as they come and as he continues to fight, we are asking any help possible for him and his family.
