Hello Friends my name is Kristin Gamez-Metivier. I have a life long childood friend Bryan & his family in need. Bryan posted his plea on his FaceBook page this weekend. Seeing this post brings me to tears & action! I'm hopeful we can raise just enough money to help Bryan & his beautiful family transistion to the next chapter of thier lives.
Here's Bryan's story;
So I never do anything like this. I am a very proud husband and father. For the past 30 years my wife, Janet, has been struggling with some pretty severe health issues. She has dealt with all her issues very well in the 25 years we've been together. She has been a great mother to our 2 kids and she is the strongest woman I know. She also keeps me in line. Many people would have given up the fight years ago. Not Janet though. She has fought tooth and nail to endure the pain of... her bones crumbling, Her guts coming apart, a hip replacement and many other life saving surgeries.
More recently she is suffering from a disease that stemmed from a life saving treatment she had 30 years ago. Prednisone. This treatment saved her life back in the 80s but now it has caused her bones to begin to deteriorate. At one point she was in such bad shape she was unable to walk and had to be in a wheelchair for several months. We had to have a hospital bed in the living room so she could access our bathroom. We finally found a Doctor who had some ideas and a treatment plan. The plan was a biologic drug called Remicade. This Remicade has been a miracle for her. She is no longer in a wheelchair and is sleeping in our bed again although the pain of her ailments is not remedied. Still not able to work we were reduced to one income, mine, which just wasn't enough to pay our mortgage and all the hospital bills that were coming in. The Remicade is $10,000 each treatment which is every 6-8 weeks (thank god for health insurance).
On top of that I injured my back and was unable to work for several months last year and the year before. I had back surgery and have recovered somewhat. I did lose my job through all of this and we have not recovered from that.
We have struggled for the last 10 years to keep our home but alas we are at the breaking point and will be foreclosed on the first week in April.
If any of my friends or family are in a position to help us it would be greatly appreciated. We do not plan to keep the house as the burden is too much for us. We are negotiating a short sale to an investment company but all that will do is get us out of foreclosure with nothing but our furniture and our clothes. Family and friends we are at a crossroads. I myself would do fine as a homeless person but my wife and my daughter do not deserve this. I am ashamed to be writing this and exposing what I see as my failures to you all but I am at my wits end. Thank you for at least reading my story. Any words of encouragement or prayers will be accepted thankfully.
With Love and appreciation Sincerely,
Bryan A Fryer
