Don protégé
On February 15, 2019 I was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer. Stage 3B. 5.5cm tumor. Estrogen and progesterone positive. HER2 negative. Affecting 1 axillary lymph node.
Obviously, this flipped my world on its head. And while I have pretty good insurance, there are a lot of costs I hadn't even considered until recently in support group.
My last day of working at the loading dock at Macy's was 2/22 and have since gone on a flexible 6 month medical leave.
I applied for disability insurance. It's a lengthy, convoluted process that may take up to 90 days before ever receiving funds. And based on my income, may not be all that much.
I was hoping my federal tax return would be able to float me in the interim waiting for disability, but the entire return was absorbed by my delinquent student loan.
So here I am, about to enter aggressive treatment with no funds.
No fun!
My treatment will consist of:
-12 weeks of chemotherapy
-a double mastectomy
-9 weeks of radiation
Upcoming expenses include:
-basic medical supplies
-out of network procedures, tests, and therapies
-supplies to make chemo more tolerable and comfortable
-emergency ubers to appointments
-rent and bills
(A more in-depth list will be posted on my fb group in case anyone can donate supplies directly.)
This is an intimidating journey and anything to make it slightly easier on me is massively appreciated!
Please donate if you're willing and able to.
And please please please share this.
