Imagine a classroom in Gambia where children learn not just from books, but from nature. Imagine a future where these students grow up under the shade of fruit trees they planted with their own hands. This is not just a dream - it’s a mission we can accomplish together.

We are Planet Caretakers, a dedicated environmental NGO based in Portugal, and we are partnering with an inspiring grassroots NGO in Gambia. Their goal is simple but powerful: to plant fruit-bearing trees in schools across the country. These trees will provide nourishment, shade, and education - literally rooting sustainability into the hearts and minds of young students.

But there’s one problem: they don’t have a truck.

The Problem: Mobility is Their Biggest Obstacle

The Fruit for Life project (by Global Climate Vision) has already planted hundreds of fruit trees in Gambian schools, paving the way for a more sustainable future. But we are struggling with transportation - without a truck, delivering and maintaining these trees is an uphill battle and to reach our goal of 1 million trees, we urgently need a truck to transport fruit trees from our collection points to schools across the country - and that's where you come in!

Without reliable transportation, the project struggles to:

Deliver trees to schools efficiently

Monitor and care for previously planted trees

Expand to new schools and communities

By securing a reliable truck, Fruit for Life can:

Fundraising Goal: 275,000 GMD (€3,800 / $4,200 USD)

This amount will cover the purchase of a used truck to support our mission. Additional donations/funds beyond this goal will help with maintenance and fuel for the first planting season but also training sessions for schools on how to best care for the trees.

When I first connected with the Gambian NGO, I was struck by their resolve. Despite limited resources, they had planted trees by hand, carrying saplings in carts and by foot. Their perseverance touched us deeply. We knew we had to join forces and help amplify their impact.

This isn’t just about trees - it’s about empowerment, resilience, and climate justice.

How Your Donation Will Be Handled

As the CEO and Founder of Planet Caretakers, I will personally oversee the collection and transfer of all campaign donations. Since GoFundMe does not currently support direct withdrawals in The Gambia, funds will be securely received through my verified personal account. Once the goal is met, I will ensure 100% of the proceeds (minus GoFundMe’s standard processing fees) are transferred to our partner NGO in Gambia via a trusted service like Western Union or Wise.

Transparency and accountability are central to our values. I will share detailed updates, receipts, and photos showing how your contributions are used - including the purchase of the truck and the planting of trees in schools. Every donor will see the direct impact of their support.
