New York is now the epicenter of the world for COVID-19. Its frontline healthcare workers are performing tirelessly in novel, unrelenting scenarios. As hospitals brace for surges of patients, the physical and mental health needs of these frontline workers is paramount at this time.
Frontline Strong Relief is an initiative created to help support the physical and mental well-being needs of frontline workers at New York hospitals in resource-efficient way. Conceived by Studio Elsewhere, a New York based design studio specializing in resilient healthcare environments and the Abilities Research Center, a part of the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, the Frontline Strong Relief Center is a centralized hub providing frontline workers with ongoing resources during an unprecedented time of intense psychological and physical strain.
We have invested $10K to begin our first pilot program at The Mount Sinai Hospital, rapidly converting the 3,000 square foot ARC space into a Frontline Relief Center with interactive recharge rooms, showers and bathrooms, performance coaching sessions, nourishment and rest areas. Restorative nourishment in the form of highly nutritious wellness snacks and beverages will be provided on a continuous basis as well as a daily meal delivery program to internal COVID-19 wards by supplied by local chefs and restaurants. The pilot includes recharge room kits with immersive audio content in partnership with EMBC studio as well as restorative interactive visuals designed to address the spectrum of burnout caused by long hours in a highly stressful situation.
Due to the success of our pilot we now are scaling to other hospitals and donations will allow us to build more relief hubs, recharge rooms, services and continuously feed our frontline heroes.
We are fully aware of the many gaps in the healthcare system, explicitly during this crisis: from tools and technology to basic hospital supplies. As a small business in the healthcare ecosystem, we are committing our resources to help in the most supportive ways we know how and are doing this with the cooperation and support of hospital staff working in COVID-19 floors day in and day out.
100% of donations will go directly into the funding of the current program and the build out of as many iterations as possible, and are handling personally the management and delivery of funds raised .
We have already received in-kind donations of more than $10K in consumer packaged goods from Brad’s Plant Based, Kuli Kuli Foods, Regrained, Kind Snacks, Reeds Inc, Brooklyn Born Chocolate, The Simply Good Foods Company, Lion Teas, Grandy Oats and Western Smokehouse.
