On July 9th, 2025, our beloved papa, husband, dad, and brother, Jeff “Bubba” Decoteau, was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (a form of liver cancer) and stage 4 cirrhosis after collapsing at work. What followed was a wave of testing and the news none of us were prepared for.
Jeff is a hard-working man who has always put others first—his family, friends, and community. Whether helping a neighbor or making his grandkids laugh with a silly joke, he’s the one we all count on. Even now, he continues to face this with strength and humor.
He’s currently undergoing treatment at the University of Minnesota Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, which requires frequent travel, extended stays, and out-of-pocket costs. With work hours greatly reduced, the financial strain has been heavy.
We’re asking for help to cover:
• Travel to and from the Mayo Clinic
• Lodging and meals during treatment
• Medical expenses
• Basic living costs during this difficult time
Any donation, share, or prayer means the world to us. Thank you for lifting Jeff up as he takes on the fight of his life.
With gratitude,
The Family of Jeff “Bubba” Decoteau
Update: Please help us reach our goal to help Bubba get on the transplant list. First, he needs to treat the cancer and then if it shrinks enough, he can get on the transplant list! His doctors told him that he's a good candidate, so this is great news! He'll have chemo in the Twin Cities every three weeks, which is a lot of travel and a lot of time off work! We're doing what we can here in Minneapolis to host the family, and at the same time, food, gas, and ongoing expenses don't go away. Jeff plans to keep working as long as he can and there may come a point where he will need to take FMLA, which would put him at risk for losing his insurance if he can't pay the premiums. We want to do everything we can to make sure that the worries of money and expenses are the last things on his mind as he fights this battle!
