Update:

It is with heavy hearts that we share that, after a courageous battle with cancer, Jeff passed away on July 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.

Jeff was so deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a way of making people feel welcome and valued. His strength, sense of humor, and love for those around him will be remembered always. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we had with him and for the countless memories he leaves behind.

When this fundraiser was created, the goal was to help ease the financial burden of medical treatments and travel as he fought with incredible strength and determination. We are deeply grateful for every donation, share, prayer, and message of support you have given throughout this journey.

As we now face this heartbreaking loss, we have updated this fundraiser. Any future donations will go toward helping the family with funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the unexpected costs that come with saying goodbye to someone so deeply loved.

During this incredibly difficult time, your continued support means more than words can express. If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would help ease some of the financial burden on the family as they focus on honoring his life and grieving together.

Thank you for standing beside our family through every step of this journey. We will always be grateful for your kindness, generosity, and love. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

On July 9th, 2025, our beloved papa, husband, dad, and brother, Jeff “Bubba” Decoteau, was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (a form of liver cancer) and stage 4 cirrhosis after collapsing at work. What followed was a wave of testing and the news none of us were prepared for.

Jeff is a hard-working man who has always put others first—his family, friends, and community. Whether helping a neighbor or making his grandkids laugh with a silly joke, he’s the one we all count on. Even now, he continues to face this with strength and humor.

He’s currently undergoing treatment at the University of Minnesota Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, which requires frequent travel, extended stays, and out-of-pocket costs. With work hours greatly reduced, the financial strain has been heavy.

We’re asking for help to cover:
• Travel to and from the Mayo Clinic
• Lodging and meals during treatment
• Medical expenses
• Basic living costs during this difficult time

Any donation, share, or prayer means the world to us. Thank you for lifting Jeff up as he takes on the fight of his life.

With gratitude,
The Family of Jeff “Bubba” Decoteau

Update: Please help us reach our goal to help Bubba get on the transplant list. First, he needs to treat the cancer and then if it shrinks enough, he can get on the transplant list! His doctors told him that he's a good candidate, so this is great news! He'll have chemo in the Twin Cities every three weeks, which is a lot of travel and a lot of time off work! We're doing what we can here in Minneapolis to host the family, and at the same time, food, gas, and ongoing expenses don't go away. Jeff plans to keep working as long as he can and there may come a point where he will need to take FMLA, which would put him at risk for losing his insurance if he can't pay the premiums. We want to do everything we can to make sure that the worries of money and expenses are the last things on his mind as he fights this battle!
