From Waste to Hope: Back Our System For Israeli Farmers

My name is Tomer Zur,

I am 36, grew up in a kibbutz called HaMa'apil. My parents and grandparents experienced miracles to come to Israel and all were pioneers in working the land and rebuilding after the war. True inspirations.

Our journey began in the summer of 2014 when I was working as a fruit picker at Kibbutz Tzuba in the Jerusalem Hills, and noticed the vast amounts of apples and pears left in orchards after harvest. I saw the significant number of containers that were discarded at the packing house due to cosmetic issues such as size inconsistency, minor picking damage or uneven skin color. These fruits were perfectly good, but not "beautiful" enough for the market. What a shame and waste. I was shocked. Fast forward to today- I am honored to say that we have built an entire system that helps Israeli farmers and Israeli agriculture. Hamatsesa LTD purchases these fruits, which would otherwise go to waste, and transforms them into high-quality natural juices, ciders, vinegar and many other products. This initiative not only provides a second life to perfectly good food but also supports local farmers, promotes Israeli agriculture, and introduces innovative culinary products to the local market. Sales Network: 600 wholesale sales points across Israel Annual

Production: 300 tons of fruit per year (apples & pears)

Suppliers: 4 largest packing houses and dozens of farmers from northern Israel neighboring the Lebanon border.

We wish to create an industrial safety net for Israeli farmers who grow stone fruit such as mangos, peaches, cherries and similar. This industry is not to be found in Israel.

We believe it can provide a significant solution for huge amounts of high quality fruits with bad PR.

NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are receiving requests from farmers daily that have crops being thrown away, causing them to loose huge revenue. They could be used and made into something wonderful and at the same time help the farmers have the added income rather than loss. The problem is that we have a system for many fruit but not all. Help us help the farmers by creating a new system with new machinery and ultimately helping Israeli agriculture succeed during these terrible times.

אני בן 36, גדלתי בקיבוץ המעפיל לסבים וסבתות שהיו חלוצים אמיתיים בעשייה ובמחשבה. השראות אמיתיות. דמויות של אמת. גדלתי על ברכיהם ומשהו מתפיסת עולמם ודרך המחשבה שלהם חלחל אלי.

המסע של המתססה החל בקיץ 2014 כשעבדתי בקטיף במטעי קיבוץ צובה שבהרי ירושלים. שמתי לב לכמויות העצומות של תפוחים ואגסים שנותרו במטעים לאחר הקטיף. ראיתי את המספר המשמעותי של מיכלים שנזרקו בבית האריזה עקב בעיות קוסמטיות כמו חוסר עקביות בגודל, נזקי קטיף קלים או צבע קליפה לא אחיד. פירות אלה היו טובים לחלוטין, אך לא "יפים" מספיק עבור השוק. איזו בושה ובזבוז. רציתי למצוא פתרון.

היום אני גאה לומר שבנינו מערכת שלמה המסייעת לחקלאים ישראלים ולחקלאות הישראלית. המתססה רוכשת בכסף את הפירות הללו, שאחרת היו נזרקים או נשארים במטע והופכת אותם למיצים טבעיים, סיידרים אלכוהולים, חומץ ומוצרים רבים אחרים. יוזמה זו לא רק מספקת חיים שניים למזון איכותי לחלוטין, אלא גם תומכת בחקלאים מקומיים, מקדמת חקלאות ישראלית ומציגה מוצרים קולינריים חדשניים שאינם קיימים בשוק המקומי.

רשת מכירות: 600 נקודות מכירה סיטונאיות ברחבי ישראל

ייצור שנתי: 300 טון פירות בשנה (תפוחים ואגסים)

ספקים: 4 בתי האריזה הגדולים ביותר ועשרות חקלאים מצפון ישראל – רמת הגולן וגבול הלבנון.

כעת, לאחר ביסוס המערכת, אנו רוצים להתקדם לשלב חדש.

אנו מבקשים ליצור רשת ביטחון תעשייתית לחקלאים ישראלים המגדלים פירות עם גלעין קשה כמו מנגו, אפרסקים, דובדבנים, נקטרינות, שזיפים ודומיהם.

תעשייה זו אינה קיימת בישראל.
